Nutty Nana’s Flip Flops

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

You may remember Nutty Nana from this post. Now she is going crazy teaching young sewers to make flip flops! This is a great project for a beginning sewer…fast, fun and great results! The pattern is Bali Flip Flops by Auntie’s Two.

Memorial Day Sewing

Monday, May 31st, 2010

First, a big thank you to all of our service men and women! I appreciate all you do for our country.

I finally finished a project that has been on my sewing table for at least a month. It wasn’t hard, I just kept getting distracted by other things…as usual :-) . This is the Sweet Harmony Tote Bag by Amy Butler. I used Laura Gunn’s Poppy fabrics and love the size. It is not too small, not too big…just right!

What are you sewing this Memorial Day?

Anything But Boring!

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Janice Pope, owner of Anything But Boring dropped by the other day and was kind  enough to personally model two of her best-selling designs, the Schlepping Bag and The Two Hour Tulip purse bouquet. Like all of Janice’s patterns which are made to solve everyday problems, these two are easy to construct and so useful! The Schlepping Bag is large enough for you to take all of your class supplies with you in one bag. Throw everything in and you are ready to go! The tulip purse is ergonomically designed so that it won’t tip over. Since carrying this bag, I haven’t lost a cell phone, wallet or anything else out of my purse, even when it falls on the floor of the car! If you have made either of these, let us know how you liked them!

Wish Upon A Quilt Customer Quilt Show – Amelia

Meet Amelia, a fabulous Wish Upon A Quilter! Like us, Amelia feel in love with Leanika by Dena Designs for Free Spirit. Don’t you love what she did with it? A very special little one will be the recipient of this quilt. Great job Amelia!

Chain Reaction Quilt with fabrics by Brandon Mably – the perfect guy quilt

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I had not had much exposure to Brandon Mably’s fabrics before this quilt. As the manager of Kaffe Fassett’s London studio for 15 years, he certainly has an eye for color and design. While I must admit that some of Brandon’s fabrics are a little too “out there” for me, for the most part I have become a Brandon fan!

One amazing thing about this quilt is that my husband, Mike, really liked it the first time he saw it (I can’t say that about all of my quilts).  Must be a guy quilt! The pattern lended itself to be cut out on my Accuquilt Go!, so piecing it was breeze. I don’t have much time for quilitng these days, so I asked Angela Clark of Threadwaggle Quilting to come up with a design and use her magic to finish the quilt. Angela added an orange peeel design that suits this quilt beautifully.

If you would like to see the quilt in person, stop by Wish Upon A Quilt or have one of your very own by clicking here. Do you have other guy quilts that you would like to share?

5lilMunchkins and a great Wish Upon A Quilt customer!

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Jennifer is the designer of these beautiful children’s clothes. She is a stay-at-home mom of 5 children and the owner of  5lilMunchkins, an online children’s boutique. She has 4 boys and 1 girl which is why she has so much fun creating these little girl outfits. These were made using Heather Bailey’s Nicey Jane and Sandi Henderson’s Meadowsweet. Jennifer is a little camera shy so I do not have a picture of her (yet)…you can usually see her at Wish on Thursday evenings. If you are short on time or need a quick gift, I highly recommend 5lilmunchkins!

Found at Quilt Market – Laura Gunn

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

I love finding great new fabrics at Quilt Market. I’m on my way back to Raleigh from the Spring Quilt market and couldn’t wait to share pictures of Laura Gunn’s Lantern Bloom. The fabric was created from Laura’s original artwork and is stunning. This is Laura’s debut fabric line from Michael Miller.  Laura was a delight to meet in person and I’m looking forward to more great fabric designs from her in the future. Lantern Bloom will be arriving at Wish Upon A Quilt in June…what do you think?
