New Name for Strip Club-The Cut Ups!

The Cut Ups!

It has been my pleasure to teach the Strip Club at Wish Upon a Quilt since it began in July 2008. Although we get up early (8:30 a.m.), we have fun starting new projects and learning new techniques. The group has a great sense of humor, is very supportive and consists of all skill levels. In fact, after a few months of using strips, the group decided that they wanted to use different shapes and techniques, so we decided we needed a new name. Hence, when one of our members suggested that our new name be “The Cut Ups!”, the group unanimously loved it!

At our last “Cut Up” club, we introduced a quilt series called Fun & Done! It is a brand new method of “quilt as you go” that was introduced at last Fall’s Quilt Market. The pattern we selected is Lively Lattice and there are other patterns available using this technique as well. Club members received the pattern and precut fabric strips to get them started on the project. This technique is even easier using the batting buddy template for cutting the backing and batting and is used to center the batting perfectly on the block. Members that complete all or part of a club quilt are entered into a drawing for door prizes. If you have not had an opportunity to attend, come and join the “Cut Ups”. I look forward to meeting you!
