Mystery quilters….are you out there? How are you progressing? Here are pictures of Nancy’s quilt pieces..do yours look like this? If you haven’t started or are behind…don’t worry. There are 2 months of clues to go and then we will have a month of sewing before the big reveal party. Spend some time in the cool indoors working on your mystery quilt!

Wish Upon A Quilt Mystery Quilt Step 3
How is your mystery quilt progress coming along? This month’s step goes much quicker than step 2, so you will make good progress in no time. Nancy’s hint is to pay particular attention to the pressing instructions in this step. Accuracy will pay off in the next few steps.
Hello Mystery Quilters! How are you coming along? By now you have selected your fabrics and sewn them into some strips. Easy, right? Step 2 is a little more challenging, but it does get much easier after this step. In this step, you will be making lots of half-square triangle pieces. Nancy used the quicker method of piecing. Draw one line diagonally down the center of the square and then 2 lines 1/4″ from the center and stitching on the two lines. Something fun to consider, Nancy saves all of her “dog ears” (and YES, there are plenty in this step!) and puts them in a small clear spice jar. When she fills it up, she ties a ribbon on it and has a cut little jar of fabric confetti for her sewing room! Leave us a comment and let us know how your are doing! We had such fun on July 25th revealing our first ever Mystery Quilt. We used a Debbie Caffery mystery quilt program. All of the quilts were gorgeous and all of the participants had fun making them. Fabric Choices-high contrast works best
Have you ever made a mystery quilt? If not, they are fun! I made my first Mystery Quilt several years ago when a local shop was running a mystery quilt project. It was perfect for me as a new quilter. I did not really know what I wanted to make and I was a little bit uncomfortable in the quilt shop with so many fabric choices! The mystery quilt required just three fabrics so I did not have to make many overwhelming decisions. Perfect! The shop also posted what the quilt looked like, so I could make sure that my pieces were accurate as I went along. In the end, I had a gorgeous quilt that would have looked too intimidating to me to try if I had seen what it would look like in the beginning. Now that I have a quilt shop, I wanted to pass on this experience to others, so if you have not picked up your FREE pattern at the shop, please join us by picking up your pattern next time you are in the shop.
