Janice’s Flower Garden

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Our own camera shy Janice McSweeney created this beautiful quilt. She used Angela’s Flower Garden pattern by my friend Frank of FranksThreeWiseGuys fame. It was quilted by Three Bears Quilting and is stunning. It will be hanging in the store again soon, so come by and see it! Janice is camera shy but I have to tell you that she is the glue that holds our online operations together, so peek in the office and say hi to Janice next time you come for a visit.

DJ’s First Show and Tell – Brown Bear Quilts

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

DJ wrote to us: I was very excited to win the book “Painless Paper-Piecing” by Marjorie Rhine that you donated to the Capital Quilters Guild. This was my first show and tell, so that made the prize even more exciting. The book has many beautiful projects using a technique that I’m not experienced in. I can’t wait to get started!

By the way, some of the fabric that I used in my show and tell project I purchased from your shop.

I’ve attached some pictures of the quilt that I made and of the Growth Chart made from the scraps. The Brown Bear  quilt is the first quilt that I’ve completed in over 20 years (only one quilt prior to that), so I’m quite proud of it.

Don’t you agree that DJ should be very proud of these quilts. Tell us about the quilts that you are working on today!

Brown Bear Quilt and Growth Chart

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

DJ shared this fun Brown Bear quilt with us. It was the first quilt she has completed in over 20 years, so it was quite an accomplishment!  She used the leftover fabric scraps to make a growth chart, what a great idea! Thanks DJ! What do you do with your leftover scraps from quilts? Share your ideas by leaving a comment.

Jan’s Baby Quilt – Customer Quilt Show

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

We love to help our customers find just the right fabrics for their quilts. While it is fun to help them in person, we also help lots of customers from all over the world on the phone and via email. Gotta love technology!  Jan made this beautiful baby quilt for her little boy and was such a joy to help in the store. She spent over two hours choosing just the right colors for her special little boy. She also sent along a picture of a quilt made with Amy Butler  fabrics that she just had to have! Gorgeous quilts, Jan…thanks for sending. What special fabrics are you all playing with today?

Amanda’s Charity Quilt

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

I love the story behind every quilt. Amanda is a fairly new quilter and made this fabulous quilt. She then donated it to her church for an auction where it brought $375 for the cause. Great job Amanda! Quilter’s make such a difference in the lives of others. Please send us your quilting story at wishuponaquilt@bellsouth.net We would love to hear about what you are working on!
